I think we all can agree a winter wonderland it a beautiful sight. There is something about a fresh blanket of snow to hide all the past dead foliage and impurities. So, when’s Avery’s mama requested a ‘One’derland theme, I rolled up my crafty sleeves and got started designing the set.

Using coffee filters and cones crafted from poster board, I created several ‘snow’ covered trees to help create the depth of the session. It wasn’t an original idea, but one of Martha Stewarts tutorials. But it was so simple, and and fun to create. I added some fairy lights, Christmas garland, and lots of pillow fluff to make my wonderland magical for Miss Avery.
Miss Avery is a doll! She behaved herself so well during her session, hardly budging and just smiling at all the attention she was receiving. Her mama remarked several times that she was being the best she has ever been for a picture session!
Avery adored her cake, from the local baker, Kathy’s Cakes. She wore the whip cream frosting in her hair, on her legs, arms and more. She definitely needed that bubble bath that followed her cake smash.
My Cake Smash sessions are in 3 parts to capture a variety of portraits and the personality of your one-year-old. I start with a classic or themed setting, move onto the messy cake smash, and finish it off with the bubble bath blast! The bubble bath is always blast of water through my studio. I keep extra towels on standby for the flood that most likely will occur. During this part of the session, I have parents help me out by blowing bubbles to bring out the magic in the birthday baby’s eyes!
