I have been aching for the last several years to have my own sunflower field solely for the purposes of summer portraits. I have had one other opportunity in the past to capture a family in their own sunflowers and I wanted my own ever since.

And though 2020 was the year of disappointments, with the help of my father-in-law, we made my sunflower dream come true! And what is more exciting, is next year, I plan to double the size of the sunflower field, have more variety, as well as find a smaller size to plant for toddler size portraits!
I had several families book ahead and come out to enjoy family portraits in my sunflowers, including a generational session, maternity, family, and cousins! My husband’s and his buddies even paraded in front of the sunflowers and dared to do the Dirty Dancing run and jump routine. That, my friends, was hysterical.
One of the blessings with CNY Summer Family Sessions is the prolonged evenings. Unlike fall sessions, that may happen as early as 4 p.m., the summer sessions can extend to 8 p.m. There’s more time to prepare and come relaxed to your family session then rush after work, hope the kids can get dinner and have your hair done. The golden hour in the summer also provides a warm glow like a blanket to wrap around my beautiful families.
