Remember that sweet trip I took back in January to capture my niece on Fort Campbell? Can you believe it has been a year already? Miss Adilyn is still a tiny little one, but she’s progressed like all 1-year olds into a walking and curious trying to talk toddler. I even got her to say, “cheese!”

Adilyn is excited to have her very own cake! | Tennessee baby photography

Miss Adilyn came home with her mama and her brothers while daddy is serving our country oversees. This was the first time most of our family was able to meet her. She has stolen all our hearts and if you aren’t paying any attention to her, she will come to you and quickly get it. Since she has been ‘home’, she’s been in front of my camera for two Christmas sessions and her 1-year Tennessee baby photography session.

For Adilyn’s cake smash, I created a beautiful 100+ balloon garland and hung it to frame her setting. I was able to use my tepee prop that has been buried in my closet. I have so many props that I forget what I have in my arsenal.

Though the shoot was strictly for Adilyn, her brothers wanted to be a part of it. Between sitting in the set, and Colton borrowing my wooden camera décor and helping me take the portraits, we captured the whole session easily.

After the cake smash, we clean it all up with a bubble bath. The bubble bath is always blast of water through my studio. I keep extra towels on standby just for the flood that most likely will occur. During this part of the session, I had mom help me out by blowing bubbles to keep Miss Adilyn’s face lit up!

My Cake Smash sessions are in 3 parts to capture a variety of portraits and the personality of your one-year-old. I start with a classic or themed setting, move onto the messy cake smash, and finish it off with the bubble bath blast! I love to see my newborns grow and return to me for their updated portraits.
