I had the honor of capturing this young man’s 2021 senior portraits this fall and in a new location that I have never been. Nathan requested that his portraits be shot in downtown Syracuse at Franklin Square. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a baby when it comes to driving in Syracuse.  I prefer not to go farther than Destiny, but I love a new location to add to my portfolio. Nathan and his dad gave me (and my honey) a tour of Franklin Square that evening, and we took advantage of all the architecture and parks that it offered us for exceptional backdrops.

I had met Nathan and his family one year prior when I captured his sister’s senior session at Mexico Pointe State Park. It is always an honor when I get a future call from a former client!

With senior sessions, I encourage my seniors to bring 1-2 outfit changes to add a variety to their portraits. They enjoy dressing up and posing for the camera, knowing they are going to have many beautiful portraits to show off to their family and classmates as well as hand down to the next generation.

Another aspect I encourage in a Syracuse senior photography session is for the senior to bring an element /prop of what they are passionate about. Whether it is sports, music, dance, etc. I love to capture them with it. Nathan brought with him, his dad’s ’86 Monte Carlo SS.  It was his dad’s first car, so I was excited that they added it to his senior session!

Syracuse senior sessions are so rewarding not only to the senior who put in all the work for the last 13 years, but also for the parents. It is a job well done to all involved when a senior graduate whether it was homeschooled, public or private school. Investing in senior photography will give parents something special to look back on with pride and admiration.
